Compliance & Vetting

At RatedTraders.com, we prioritise customer’s peace of mind by ensuring that all listed traders meet the highest standards of compliance and professionalism. Every trader undergoes our five-step vetting process, including identity verification, qualifications checks, and adherence to industry regulations.

By maintaining strict compliance measures, we ensure customers connect only with trusted professionals who are equipped to deliver quality workmanship and reliable service. Whether it’s a small repair or a large renovation project, we want customers to trust that RatedTraders.com can help them find dependable experts for their home improvement needs.

Our Trader Verification Process

RatedTraders.com is committed to making our platform the most trusted trader recommendation platform (TRP) in the UK. To ensure this, as part of the sign up process, we will verify all applications using the following methods:

  • Identity Check: We’ll ask traders to upload a copy of their driver’s licence and/or passport, to ensure the details match their business details. In the case of limited companies, they’ll need to be listed as a ‘Person with significant control’ at Companies House.
  • Insurance: We’ll ask traders to upload a copy of their Public Liability Insurance Certificate, which matches the name on their application.
  • Mandatory Trade Bodies & Associations: We’ll ask traders to provide proof of membership of mandatory trade bodies, such as Gas Safe.
  • CCJ Check: We will check for previous CCJs in their name and/or limited company name using Trust Online (https://www.trustonline.org.uk/).
  • Video Verification: We may ask traders to record a short video and upload it so we can match their identity – however, this will not be publicly available.

Once trader’s verification has been completed successfully, their profile page will feature a blue verified tick.

We’ll monitor trader’s rating and reviews on RatedTraders.com and other review platforms, and ask for up to date documentation as part of their ongoing membership.
